The Jüdische Kulturbund Project in collaboration with Jok Abraham Thon, I AM PEACE, and Ana Taban is working on an initiative that shows the power of education and cultural expression as a driving force for peace and unity in South Sudan (and the world).
Jok Abraham Thon has a mission:
To heal South Sudan through education and changing minds from BULLETS TO BOOKS.
The goal of BULLETS TO BOOKS is to produce a feature documentary film that helps raise support for Jok’s school, The Promised Land Secondary School, and bring Jok to the US to talk to kids around the country about the issues of gun violence and inspire them to work on peaceful solutions through education and culture.

OUR OBJECTIVES
We have already raised support, thanks to the US State Department, to travel to South Sudan to film phase one (the short version) for the BULLETS TO BOOKS documentary.
Now we want to raise money to replace the temporary structures with permanent buildings at Promised Land Secondary School. We are starting with phase one, a multi-use classroom, which Jok is naming the Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG) Building. In September 2020, a plan for the RBG Building was designed. Two months later, ground was broken. Three months later, the walls and roof were installed. Electrical wiring, windows, waterproofing, and interior finishing will follow. We estimate the total funds needed for the RBG Building is $30,000.
